The restoration of the Vickers Sons & Maxim 6 inch Breech Loading Coastal Defense gun proved to be highly successful as a single shot was fired over Belfast Lough on the 4th August 2014 at 1pm BST to commemorate the start of WW1 and was fired a second time on the 11th November 2014 for Armistice Day Both guns were restored by members of Grey Point Fort Amateur Radio Society
